چکیده

SAR Interferometric (InSAR) techniques are widely applied for analyzing geophysical and tectonic deformations and for improving modeling techniques, with the benefits of surface deformation measurements covering areas from several to a hundred kilometers in size with a satisfactory accuracy (theoretically in the millimeter range). Nevertheless the accuracy and availability of deformation measurements using InSAR techniques is limited due to decorrelation effects, atmospheric disturbances, the SAR sidelooking geometry (which causes layover and shadowing). In this paper, we will present advanced InSAR techniques combined with cross-correlation measurements [1] in order to retrieve non-linear deformation signals from active volcanoes using high resolution TerraSAR-X mission images. An experimental TanDEM-X Raw DEM with a resolution of approximately 6 meters has been applied in order to compensate the topographic phase. A volcanic test site which is currently highly active – El Hierro Island – has been selected in order to demonstrate the developed advanced techniques.

Application of Sar Interferometric Techniques for Surface Deformation Monitoring

Over the last years surface deformation monitoring with interferometric SAR (INSAR) techniques reached some maturity. Important elements contributing to this increasing importance included the development of advanced processing techniques and the rich existing SAR data archives containing information on surface movements since 1991, the currently operated SAR sensors in orbit (ERS-2, ENVISAT AS...

Use of Low-Cost Acquisition Systems with an Embedded Linux Device for Volcanic Monitoring

This paper describes the development of a low-cost multiparameter acquisition system for volcanic monitoring that is applicable to gravimetry and geodesy, as well as to the visual monitoring of volcanic activity. The acquisition system was developed using a System on a Chip (SoC) Broadcom BCM2835 Linux operating system (based on DebianTM) that allows for the construction of a complete monitorin...

Monitoring Landslides and Volcanic Deformation from Insar Techniques

Our research has shown that interferometric SAR techniques can be used to monitor deformation at landslides and volcanoes under specific conditions. Special filtered interferograms are being used to reduce speckle and minimize errors created by vegetation. InSAR images were used to monitor current post slide motion along existing fault lines at the Frank Slide a 30 x 10 m rock avalanche, in the...

Deformation monitoring using Sentinel-1 SAR data

This paper describes the data processing and analysis procedure implemented by the authors to analyse Sentinel-1 data. The procedure is an advanced Differential Interferometric SAR (DInSAR) technique that generates deformation maps and time series of deformation from multiple SAR images acquired over the same site. The second part of the paper illustrates the results of the procedure. The first...

Interferometric Monitoring of an Active Underground Mining Field with High-resolution Sar Sensors

Underground mining activities lead to ground movements at the earth surface. An area-wide monitoring and the documentation of mining induced influences are required by the mining authorities. Work done in the past confirmed a significant potential of SAR interferometric methods to contribute information to such monitoring. Nevertheless, in spite of advanced SAR interferometric processing techni...
